I'm Serena Hampton Yates. I'm a licensed Hairstylist who has been in the industry for over 15 years. Starting out my dream was to style a diverse group of people, which would allow me to navigate through all aspects of the beauty industry. Originally from the Metro Detroit area, it was instilled in me early on the importance of hair care. Detroit is the hair capital of the world and I’m blessed to have been rooted in this city.

Education is extremely important to me, so getting the best cosmetology training was a must. I sought out the best Cosmetology school I could find within Michigan. That school was Michigan College of Beauty in Troy, Michigan. MCB is a Pivot Point school. The training I received there prepared me for my career as a hairstylist and business woman. My education didn’t end there, as I went on to gain a degree in business management. The industry is always shifting and that’s why I take several classes annually to make sure I am aware of all the latest hair trends. When you come and sit in my chair, you are confident that your hair will never be compromised by any unhealthy business practices. Hair care will Always come first.

I've been extremely fortunate to work with many people and on a variety of projects. Some of them include working with Disney, OWN, Bravo, TLC, Martha Stewart Weddings, Brides, Moda Operandi, Essence magazine, Washingtonian magazine and Munaluchi bride just to name a few. The opportunities that I've had, positioned me to be able to work in diverse work environments, as well as allowed me to gain tools that I have been able to use to enhance my knowledge as a Hairstylist.
